If their customer facing business policies are this disturbingly abusive I wouldnt trust their journalism practices. Their billing and membership policies abuse customers. Extremely rude and cruel customer service manager. I was in SF temporarily and was forced to subscribe to read one article (on 11/29/23). I quickly canceled the very next day (11/30) as I wasn't staying in SF for long. *Cancelations can only happen verbally by phone. THEY DO NOT PROVIDE CONFIRMATION OF CANCELATION*. You just have to take their word for it that it's canceled. 7 months later I'm getting text messages saying that they weren't able to process my subscription payment and I need to provide new form of payment. I call them and they tell me I have $15 past due on my ACTIVE subscription. I had to explain to three different people that I canceled on 11/30, that I don't live in SF but was visiting, and that I'm unemployed and cannot pay them. They claimed that they credited the account for the $15, after they said there was no way to do it. Then they said they credit my account but that the credit was declined. Then again the manager claimed he credited the 15$ and the account was canceled. This time I insisted on getting a confirmation number or confirmation email and because of that the manager treated me like garbage and just kept repeating that they "don't provide confirmation of cancelation". HE THEN HUNG UP ON ME. "We don't provide confirmation of cancelation"?!!. If THAT isn't shady I don't know what is. Their billing and membership practices are immoral and I wouldn't trust the whole business.

Terrible customer service. Will not refund my subscription. The supposed supervisor I spoke to just kept repeating the same thing over and over. Told me to read the terms and conditions of the subscription. Is my $20 going to make or break your publication I just want my money back to use it on something more useful than your outrageously priced newspaper!!

This is not San Francisco chronicle building. This is part of Hibernia Bank Landmark. TFC "sarimanok"An extension uses of those CA/NV Certified clinicians. FOR FILIPINOS that needs tender loving care and donations passing co-vid 19 Pandemic...

I like the content but their billing policy is dishonest. They auto charged my credit card 10 days before renewal. When I called immediately, even though I am still in my old subscription they refuse to credit it back. Feels dishonest.

If only I could give the Chronicle less than one star, I surely would. They are completely incompetent at delivering a paper to someone who has been a subscriber for years. For some reason after getting the Sunday Chronicle for years, they suddenly stopped delivering my Sunday paper. I have confirmed with them I am paid up for months into the future so it's their incompetence.

I have called to have my paper re-delivered 8 times now. Each time they say they will re-deliver the paper and they do not. They are liars! They also say they will notify my carrier and resolve the issue. They have not resolved the issue after 8 times I have had to call them. They are liars!

My next step is to contact my lawyer, and the Better Business Bureau will get a report and the FTC will also get a report. I am also going to find everywhere I am able to leave a review and let people know how poor they are at taking care of customer service. Too bad, because I still think this is my favorite paper in the Bay Area to read. I also get the Mercury News and they have no trouble taking care of their customers, I get my paper every day.....but the SF Chronicle sucks! and they are LIARS!

UPDATE1: I finally got a paper on Christmas day. It was the first time in four requests that I was able to get them to deliver one they had completely missed. I am hopeful that my delivery that has happened reliably for years will resume being reliable. If that happens for a whole month, then I will remove this review. I also added one star for the effort of redelivering my missed paper on Christmas Day.

Update 2: New Years day and no paper yet again.... I was so hopeful, after they finally delivered a paper to me last week on Christmas day. I am on call 10 now, and I still can't seem to get what I have already paid for....., just deliver my damn paper as contracted to do.

These are fake bot reviews one only needs to yelp SF chonicle to see there raiting. This place is extremely corrupt now and takes money to promote propaganda. The building manger treats there contractors as if they are slaves. Even calls them racial slurs and makes jokes on there disabilities. I will be making a case with the CA labor board

They converted our Friday-Sunday paper delivery to Sunday only. No prior notice. No refund offer. Basically "too bad, take it or leave it" from customer support. And people wonder why print media is struggling. Here are two good reasons; poor communication and poor customer support. You have now lost yet another subscriber.

Joke of a rag from Frisco, website says "only subscribers are allowed to use adblocker" when in fact, upon disabling adblocker, I found only subscribers can read articles AT ALL. Nobody wants to pay to subscribe to your hack, third-rate, AP-ripoff newsclone. If you can't make money without everyone paying a subscription fee, you're going to lose what readers you DO have really quick.
